Our Garden’s columnist Georgina Reid will release her debut book, The Planthunter: Truth, Beauty, Chaos and Plants, tomorrow. To coincide with the release of this beautiful hardcover, Georgina shares an excerpt with us, featuring the garden of legendary local artist Bill Henson – we’re starstruck once more!

Spring has well and truly sprung, and there’s (arguably) no place more picturesque at this time of year than Victoria’s Dandenong Ranges. SO lush!

This area is home to some of Victoria’s most breathtaking private gardens, and this month, you can access them! Secret Gardens of the Dandenongs is a diverse program of full-day tours (including lunch) in some of the area’s most beautiful private gardens – kicking off this week!

Today we’re revisiting three of our favourite gardens who are participating in the program.

The humid subtropical clime of Brisbane makes for some lush gardens and covetable flora.

One such oasis is the plant shop of Andrea Fitzpatrick, a keen green thumb who studied horticulture and then landscape design after her kids finished highschool.

Today, we venture back for a closer look at the couple’s beautiful and insanely lush inner city garden, created by landscape designer Amanda Oliver.

Jenny Rose-Innes is a ‘serial renovator and garden maker’. She’s been building houses and gardens for over 40 years.

Her latest creation in the Southern Highland town of Bowral is a testament to her many years of experience and vast gardening know-how. It’s full and voluptuous, and only four years old!

Florist Sean Cook, of Mr Cook, has lived a long love affair with plants!

Only two years ago, Sean’s Sydney garden was a trashed construction site. Transformed by famed landscape designer Richard Unsworth, today we tour the lush oasis!

Today we bring you a family’s city garden that beautifully complements their priorities and the home it generously encompasses.

This lush, relaxed oasis belongs to landscape designer William Dangar – and it certainly exemplifies his expertise and passion for plant life!

Thanks to our resident green-thumb, Georgina Reid of The Planthunter, we’ve been lucky enough to peek inside some pretty incredible gardens Australia-wide. Last year, we took a tour of Sunnymeade; an expertly landscaped property in Anglesea, belonging to Peter and Simone Shaw of Ocean Road Landscaping, who are in the biz of creating environmentally sensitive residential gardens.

You can see the splendor for yourself, thanks to Open Gardens Victoria, as Peter opens the proverbial door to Sunnymeade this weekend.

Today we bring you our first garden feature from South Australia – an exceptional, functional ecosystem as well as a public sanctuary!

Taking out the 2017 Sustainability Award for Landscape and Urban Design, the 2.5-hectare Adelaide Botanic Gardens Wetland has been designed by Taylor Cullity Lethlean.

The landscape architecture firm’s Director, Damian Schultz, takes us through this wonderful project, through which they’ve sought to highlight the poetry and processes of the natural world.
